The God of this world is a title that is most commonly given to Satan in the Bible. In the King James Version, there are four verses that refer to Satan as the “god of this world”. These verses are 2 Corinthians 4:4, John 12:31, 14:30 and 16:11.
When looking at these verses in context, it’s clear that they are referring to Satan’s influence over the world and how he deceives people into thinking that he is god. This is seen in 2 Corinthians 4:4 where it says that Satan has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel. In John 12:31, Jesus says “Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.”
Here, Jesus is talking about how His death on the cross will result in Satan’s defeat. And in John 14:30, Jesus says “I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming.” Again, Jesus is referring to Satan here and how He will soon be defeated.
Lastly, in John 16:11 we see Jesus say “Of judgment, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.” This verse shows us that through Christ’s death and resurrection, Satan has been defeated and his power over this world has been broken. So while there are many false gods being worshipped today, there is only one true God who reigns supreme.
And His name is Jehovah!

There is no other being like Him! All praise and honor belong to Him alone!
